Premier design jewelry with unusual shapes and forms
Premier design jewelry meant to be worn by the modern urban woman. Great colors, fun shapes, a completely different approach to jewelry is what Claudia Correa is offering with her fabulous designs.
Her jewelry is fit for all kinds of lifestyles but above all, for those that want to make a statement and stand out.Claudia studied Design in the Diego Portales University. A few years afterwards was awarded an important Chilean design award called the “Reflejos del Pacifico” (Pacific Reflections). She is the proud holder of the first prize with her beautiful ring “Cochayuyo”, you can see it on the right.
I love her colorful designs and the way she plays with shapes. Claudia goes one step further, thinks about different ways of wearing jewelry and shapes the pieces into new and variable designs. Her premier design jewelry is indicative of contemporary style with an industrial and architectural feel to it.
Her use of acrylic and other materials is very well built and crafted into the metal. I find her designs have lots of character and may “speak” easily to their future owner, so she makes an effortless connection between her jewelry and the wearers. She gives her jewelry the quality of personification or sense of belonging, which I find is quite difficult to achieve. And Claudia does this very well.
About her work Claudia says (my translation): “My work is the result of a constant search to reach new design possibilities in contemporary jewelry. Faultless work and perfect craftsmanship gives my jewelry an industrial appeal, as if they had been made by a machine, although it is only about the synthesis of artisan processes with a clean design for a simple contemporary style".
"I not only use precious metals for my work, I also find useful felt, plastic, paper and thread; they are licit materials to use for jewelry making. Each jewelry piece transcends, it’s not only an ornament or a demonstration of status; it’s a form of expression, a projection about the person wearing it, a sculpture in small scale. Each jewel molds the body, or vice versa, in the same level of representation. The significance I give to jewelry making, summed to my great respect for a good design, produces as a result intelligent and creative work”.
Claudia has set up her own Jewelry Studio in Santiago de Chile and has a contemporary jewelry school called Tacto.
She started giving jewelry making lessons in 2002 and is now greatly respected by her peers. Her premier design jewelry is now growing and expanding by sharing her knowledge. Thanks so much for sharing your work Claudia. You can see more of her great stuff at her personal web-site:
