Jewelry retailer: your guide to satisfying the market

Your jewelry retailer is in close connection with your craft.

They believed in you and your jewelry and are showcasing your work. Don’t take them for granted, instead care for your agreement to get even more sales.

jewelry retailer Now that you have a jewelry retailer carrying your jewelry, its time to build a relationship with the store owner and the sales people and get to know your customers.

A great way of knowing what people want is by asking the sales people and shop or gallery owner.

They may be your best “trend informer” as to what, when and why people want from jewelry, what’s in fashion. This is the reason why I believe you should strive to build a relationship with the jewelry store that sells your stuff.

Relationship building tips

  • Check in periodically to see how the sales are going through,
  • Ask what customers are saying about your jewelry,
  • Ask about prices and how much are people willing to spend, is you jewelry set to a right price? Is it too pricey? Too cheap?
  • Compare your experience, prices and portfolio to other jewelry being sold there,
  • Think about the marketability of your jewelry, are your designs finding interest from customers? From what age groups/professions/backgrounds?
  • Could you change the way your jewelry is displayed to a more appealing way?
  • Over time, is your jewelry in good condition, is it still lustrous? Or can you detect wear and tear?
  • Ask which jewelry designer makes the most sales, and ask about their success. This can give you invaluable clues as to what people want. You may also be given the designers contact information. Give them a ring to arrange a chat with them if they are willing to share their experience (some jewelers are very generous, but some other just won’t bother).
  • If you’re doing a workshop or are starting to give classes, make sure your jewelry retailer knows that so they can tell customers about it.
