Gemstone jewelry step-by-step project

gemstone jewelry

Make this beautiful aventurine necklace with yellow jade beads, wooden rondelles and cloisonné beads.

The combination of these colors (green, yellow and yellow-green) corresponds to a split complementary color scheme. This will assure you that the colors of the necklace are interesting but at the same time balanced (“complements”) achieving a harmonious whole.

You don’t want to miss other pages packed with information about color and color harmonies. Go to the Color Theory section for more info.

Materials:

  • 1 strand of Aventurine nuggets
  • 1 strand of Yellow jade beads
  • 1 strand of wooden rondelles
  • 10 cloisonné tubes
  • Green seed beads
  • 45” Nymo thread

Threading bead by bead

This necklace has no clasp so it’s as simple as threading the beads in the sequence shown and knotting the ends together to finish off.

Cut about 45” of nymo thread and thread the beads in this order:

1 yellow jade bead, 2 seed beads, 1 aventurine nugget, 1 wooden rondelle, 1 cloisonné tube, 1 wooden rondelle, 1 aventurine nugget, 2 seed beads, 1 yellow jade bead...

Repeat until the necklace is at your chosen length. In this case, the necklace is 36” long.

To close the necklace, simply tie the two ends together by making two crossed knots, cut the excess nymo thread, and it’s ready!

How easy is that!
