Bead jewelry for holiday fun at the beach
Bead jewelry for romantic nights. A fantastic mother of pearl pendant with matching earrings, great for summer style. Hit the beach with this choker. Materials: - Mother of pearl pendant and matching pair
- 20” of leather thong
- 2 Sterling silver leather calottes
- 1 Sterling silver lobster claw clasp
- Pair of sterling silver fishhook earwires
- Round nose pliers
- Loctite Super Bonder glue
Making a simple choker
Fold the leather thong in half, pass the loop through the mother of pearl pendant, and pull the two ends through the loop to form a “lark’s knot”. Chokers are usually 16” long, but to perfectly suit your body type stand up in front of a mirror. Place the choker on your neck and measure the length of the choker that best suits you and gently squeeze the thong where the two ends meet.
With a felt pen, mark the measurement and cut the leather thong just 3-4 mm longer (the length of thong covered by the leather calotte). Please be careful when using Super Bonder! Place a drop of Super Bonder to one end of the leather thong and quickly place the leather calotte on it - being careful, we don’t want your fingers getting glued!
Repeat with the other end and let dry for a couple of minutes. With your round nose pliers, attach the sterling silver lobster claw clasp to both ends of the leather calotte and the choker is ready! Remember to place the movable lobster claw part of the clasp on the right hand thong and the end cap of the clasp on the left hand thong. When you wear your choker your right hand opens the lobster claw open and inserts it into the end cap, not the other way around.
Making the matching pair of earrings
This is even easier than making the choker.Just open up the fishhook’s jumpring using your round nose pliers, insert the mother of pearl through the drilled hole and close the jump ring.
Repeat for the other earring and you’re ready to go! Easy bead jewelry project you can vary as you wish Make this beautiful aventurine necklace with yellow jade beads, wooden rondelles and cloisonné beads
